5 Reasons to Visit Skegness in the Summer

Summer is near, and like many people, you might be planning your next vacation. Skegness is one of the most popular summer resorts in the UK, well known for its wonderful beach, Fantasy Island, the rather vibrant nightlife, walking trails and restaurants you must try. Here we look in detail at the main reasons Skegness is the best vacation destination in the summer.

1. Great Nightlife

Embassy Theatre

Embassy Theatre is one of the main entertainment spots on the east coast of England. It has been a popular venue for many stars to have their spectacular musical or theatrical performances in the evening. It will be hosting a lot of outstanding concerts and events this year, and it is undoubtedly a treat to visit.

There are several important performances to look forward to in the spring and summer of 2022. It is, in fact, National Theatre Season, with lovely brand new plays, one of which is Straight Line Crazy starring Ralph Fiennes. Henry V, starring Kit Harington, will be also live on the 21st of April.

Several hospitality experiences are also provided for performances such as Disco Inferno on the 18th of June and Rhythm of the Dance on the 2nd of July.

Tower Cinema

Tower Cinema is part of the amusement arcade on Lumley Road, with different machines for kids to play with. The cinema may not be too big, but it is certainly a great addition to the amusement arcade, and suitable for both kids and adults, with a cafe situated above the stairs.

There are a lot of influential films that will have their opening at Tower Cinema in the summer. These include superhero films like Thor: Love and Thunder, starring Chris Hemsworth, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

2. Walking Trails

Boating Lake and Lagoon Walk

For people interested in bird watching, Boating Lake and Lagoon Walk is a great trail to choose. It is considered an easy route and will not be very challenging. However, you will need to consider the length of the loop walk taking around 30 minutes to finish.

Part of the trail is on the beach, and you will be enjoying a walk across the water, absorbing a breathtaking coastal view. Around the lake, you will also have a blast as there are great restaurants and cafes you may also choose for relaxation.

Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve

Gibraltar Point is under the ownership and protection of Lincolnshire County Council and covers an area of 1.7 square miles. With its north connected to the southern end of Skegness and its south stretching towards the north of the Wash, this nature reserve provides an excellent opportunity for walkers and dog-walkers.

It is also a great place to watch the wildlife. It has a lot of different kinds of habitats for various types of animals. The animals range from birds such as waterfowls and parakeets to mammals like polecats and roe deer.

During April and May, Gibraltar Point will be holding guided walks along the coastline, as well as through Theddlethorpe Dunes, giving an opportunity to enjoy all that the nature reserve has to offer.

3. Lovely Restaurants

The Steamboat Cookhouse and Pub

A lovely meal in a great restaurant is one of the main highlights of every summer trip. For that purpose, the Steamboat Cookhouse and Pub on Skegness Seafront is every traveller’s choice.

The menu is pretty diverse, with English and continental food to choose from. The mixed grill is often cited as the best option on the menu, and the steak is always cooked to perfection. For value-for-money choices, you must certainly try the fish and chips. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the open kitchen makes it possible for you to observe the process of cooking.

Tarantino

Tarantino on Drummond Road is another top choice of restaurant for all travellers.

Specialising in Italian cuisine, the chef cooks some of the best Mediterranean foods you can ever taste in your life. The ingredients are always fresh, which is essential for side dishes of salad and garlic bread.

The staff are also very accommodating for specific occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays. The Busy Sunday evenings are a good testament to the restaurant’s quality and its service.

4. Great Beaches

Skegness Beach

Skegness Beach stretches for miles, creating enough space for walking, playing and sunbathing, with great water quality.

Children, in particular, will enjoy the available donkey rides, as well as beach football and kite flying. The beach is immaculate, making it a pleasant destination for travellers.

Looking ahead toward the sea, you will spot the wind turbines in the distance, which is an attraction. However, not many people enjoy the sight.

There are plenty of facilities around such as public toilets and car parks. There are various outstanding restaurants in the vicinity, as well.

Ingoldmells South Beach

Ingoldmells South Beach may not be as famous as Skegness Beach, but it offers plenty and is certainly worth a visit.

Especially good for a refreshing walk with a partner or a friend, Ingoldmells South is located near Ingoldmells, a resort town in Lincolnshire. One of the reasons for its popularity is the permission for dog walking in low seasons. In the summer, however, you might as well rely on the plenty of activities set for children, keeping them busy and satisfied. Another upside is its closeness to Fantasy Island, a popular family theme park, and Ingoldmells Market.

5. A Great Accommodation

The Grand Hotel by Paymán Club is ready to provide suitable accommodations for all visitors staying in Skegness. Located on North Parade, The Grand Hotel is close to the beach and all the town’s major attractions. Offering single, double, twin, as well as triple rooms, the hotel is suitable for solo travellers, families and groups. You can book your preferred options directly
