7 Major Glasgow Events to Expect in March 2022

One of the reasons for people to travel to a city, especially a large city, is to be able to attend a specific event. Glasgow is one of the largest cities in Scotland, and as its most populated city, it is full of events, stand-up shows and concerts every year. Here is a list of events in March of 2022 that you can plan to attend.
1. Glasgow Film Festival
Glasgow Film Festival will run from the 2nd to the 13th of March, screening films across the UK, and premiering outstanding films in cinemas and online.
The opening gala will take place on the 2nd of March in the afternoon, and will premiere Graham Moore’s The Outfit, starring Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, Dylan O’Brien, and Johnny Flynn.
From the second day, Cineworld Renfrew Street will host the screening of African Stories, a collection of films as a celebration of life in Africa. Some of the most prominent films in this category are Once Upon a Time in Uganda and Blind Ambitions.
From the 7th to the 10th of March will be the screening of some special titles by ‘Norway’s Ida Lupino' and exceptional female filmmaker, Edith Carlmar. Finally, the closing gala will have the UK premiere of Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović’s Murina, a multinational production.
2. The Wanted Concert
The OVO Hydro will be the starting point for The Wanted, who will kick off their stage return with a tour. The venue’s capacity is 13 thousand. This will be their first concert after seven years of hiatus.
The Wanted is a British-Irish boy band, formed in 2009. The band has released three albums. Their compilation album called, Most Wanted: The Greatest Hits was released on the 21st of November, shortly before this tour which is on the 3rd of March 2022. The album is a collection of their most popular hits and has been on the UK Albums Chart Top 100.

3. Country to Country 2022
The music festival of Country to Country or C2C will be in Glasgow from 11 to 13 of March.
Country to Country festival first came into existence in 2013, and it is held every year in March in the cities of London, Dublin and Glasgow.
This year’s festival will feature country artists such as Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker, and Luke Combs, who will perform in the OVO Hydro. Tenille Arts, Brittney Spencer and some other artists will also star on Spotlight Stage.

4. Glasgow Comedy Festival
Glasgow International Comedy Festival will be held across the city from the 13th to the 26th of March. The festival was launched in 2002 and is held every year, considered one of the largest festivals of its kind in Europe.
The greatest comedy performances will be in King’s Theatre. The British comedian Fern Brady’s solo show, Autistic Bikini Queen, will be on the 17th of March. The impressionist magician Jerry Sadowitz will perform on the 20th of March in the afternoon. More importantly, Graham Fellows will bring his character of John Shuttleworth, a nerdish musical talent, back to life. His show will be on the 23rd of March.
5. James Arthur Concert
SEC Armadillo will be host to fans of James Arthur, who will perform songs from his new album, It'll All Make Sense in the End, as well as hits and fan favourites from his older albums.
James Arthur is a British singer and songwriter, who rose to fame with the 9th series of X-Factor. He has released four albums under his name so far, each of which has received good reviews and have been on UK Album charts.
The tickets are on sale now and are available to all under 14s to be accompanied by adults.
6. Katherine Ryan Comedy Show
Comedian and TV personality, Katherine Ryan, will appear on stage with her new show, entitled Missus, involving her perspective on life and relationships and her funny takes on them.
Katherine Ryan is most famous for her appearance and involvement in the Netflix series, the Duchess. You may also know her as a regular in many British panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats.
The show will welcome everyone over the age of 14 and will be held in SEC Armadillo on the 26th of March.
7. Planet Earth II Live
You must be familiar with the BBC production of Planet Earth which brought the wonders of the natural world into every viewer’s home. Now the BBC studio has taken the show onto the stage as a live concert show all across the UK.
The live concert will be presented by Liz Bonnin, the wildlife and natural history presenter, and the audience will experience hands-on footage from all wonders of the natural world from Madagascar jungles to Namibia deserts.
Matthew Freeman will be the conductor of an orchestra that is going to bring the music of Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and Jasha Klebe into life.
The event is in OVO Hydro on the 27th of March.
