A long time ago, people had to go through many ordeals just to get to their place of work, then do lots of manual jobs. Nowadays, however, many people are working from home and moving very little. Our appliances also do the job for us, which feels great not having to do everything. But for the same reasons, we have become much unhappier than our predecessors. We interact with fewer people and move much less than before. We may not be able to escape from this lifestyle and its mental burden, but we can reduce its effects by travelling.
