Tuul Riverside Lodge

The Tuul Riverside Lodge is a small, fully sustainable, traditional Mongolian camp surrounded by a sea of grass and rolling hills, which stretch down to the nearby River Tuul and beyond. Situated within an hour’s drive east of Mongolia’s bustling capital Ulaanbaatar, a warm and peaceful welcome awaits you. You will stay in beautifully decorated traditional dwellings, known locally as gers, with the added advantage of en-suite facilities.

The Tuul Riverside Lodge camp consists of nine standard gers, four deluxe gers, two luxurious Kazak style gers and one luxurious Mongolian family ger. Occupancy is on a single, twin or family basis. All the gers are authentically decorated to a high standard and provide exquisite views of the hills and river valley in the near distance. In addition to this, all Gers are en-suite and boast hot and cold running water, a shower unit, and a western-style flush toilet. The Gers also benefit from electricity from the main power line. There is also a backup generator if needed. On chilly evenings, a roaring fire casts flickering shadows around the inside of the ger which sends you into a peaceful sleep. Our total capacity is 37 guests at one time; upon request, we can always set up extra gers, tents and beds.

Facilities and Attractions near Tuul Riverside Lodge

The lodge is close to several hiking areas you can choose for lovely scenery and relaxation. Bayanzurkh Khairkhan is one of these hiking areas where you can get wonderful photos of the sunrise or the sunset. There are also several campgrounds such as Terelj Altai Resort.

Bogd Khan Uul National Park is also pretty close. Not only does it have different hiking trails, each with its unique characteristics, but you will also find some of the most important historical landmarks of Mongolia. Tsetsee Gun and Manzushir Monastery are some of these landmarks, and the trail between them is one of the most famous hiking trails in the area.

To get the most out of facilities, you will need to drive a distance to get to the city, where there is plenty of supermarkets, restaurants and cafes.

• Café Park Buffet Restaurant is on Olympic Street and is famous for the quality of the service, as well as the food.
• For lovers of European cuisine, Veranda is the best offer. The menu has a variety of dishes such as steaks, and pizzas, and the prices are very reasonable.

To make the most out of Mongolia, you will have to go to the capital with plenty of historical sites to see. Some of the most important landmarks are:

• Gandantegchinlen Monastery: This 18th-Century Buddhist monastery is a great example of Mongolian culture and religion. It is home to the tallest indoor statue in the world, and that is the statue of Avalokiteśvara.
• Winter Palace of the Bogd Khan was built in 1893 as one of the many palaces of Bogd Khan and is now recognised as one of the biggest and oldest museums in Magnolia. The property contains 6 temples, and around 8600 exhibits, including several possessions of Bogd Khan.
• Chinggis (Sükhbaatar) Square is the central square of the capital and as such, it has great historical significance. It has been a scene of parades, protests, and different events in the history of the country. To the north of the square, you will see the Government Palace, the seat of the president and the prime minister. Most of the Mongolian ceremonies are held in this square, so it is a great opportunity to check the place on special occasions.
• In the southern part of the city, you can spot the Zaisan Memorial, which was made in honour of lives lost during the Second World War. The Mural depicts the bravery of Mongolian soldiers, the help of the Soviets, and the defeat of the Japanese Army.
• National Sports Stadium is mainly for lovers of sports, especially football. However, every July, it becomes a venue for the Naadam festival, celebrating the independence of Mongolia.
