1. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve Loop

Gibraltar Point is under the ownership and protection of Lincolnshire County Council and covers an area of 1.7 square miles. With its north connected to the southern end of Skegness and its south stretching towards the north of Wash, this nature reserve provides a great opportunity for walkers and dog-walkers.

There are several trails starting from the Visitor Centre and leading to different destinations:

One passes through the Rock Ridge and ends in the Wash viewport, presenting an outstanding view of the Norfolk coast.

The starting point of the walk is near Skegness Pier, and as you start, you will see the Children’s Playpark on your left, where the kids can enjoy themselves away from the crowd, and on your right, you will have the Skegness Beach and its immaculate shore. As you go past the Seaview Pullover, you can spot Skegness Xsite SkatePark, and near the ending point, the North Shore Golf Course covers most of the area on your left.

Finally, this long 4.8-kilometre walking trail ends in Winthrope Avenue, where you will have numerous options for relaxation or a meal. The View Coffee Bar, Scooples Ice Creams, and Bill & Ben’s Cafe are all within walking distance of each other.

 

3. Vine and Coronation Walks, Skegness

Vine Walk and Coronation Walk are two of the most beautiful and breathtaking walks in Skegness. The two walks join at an intersection, where the names change. Otherwise, it is one continuous path. Vine Walk starts at Richmond Drive and after crossing Wilford Grove, the end of Coronation Walk is Drummond Road.

The walk is wonderful for spotting wildlife as mature trees have provided a great habitat for them. In these three-lined walks, you can catch the sight of some fantastic birds, and there are also squirrels around that kids will definitely like.

The walks are fully paved and there are always signs, and you can be sure to never get lost. At the end of each walk, you can use the street parking to park if you have come in a car.

In the middle of the walks, you can use the open grass area of Beresford Field for playing and recreation. The whole trail will take around 40 minutes to finish by a simple walk.

 

4. Boating Lake and Lagoon Walk

Boating Lake and Lagoon Walk is a long loop trail and is around 1.9 kilometres long.

This kid-friendly trail is suitable for families, bird watchers and anyone interested in fantastic scenery.

Its start and finish is the middle of the Main Car Park, and near Fairy Dell Paddling Pool, one of the most popular water parks in Skegness.

One of the trails moves Boating lake, going southward toward the end of the lake, and taking a U-turn by the LakeSide Diner northwards. By the Skegness Aquarium, you will turn facing the sea, and taking the promenade trail, you will be walking just by the shoreline. As you are strolling by the sea, you will have a view of the windmills in the distance, and the sound of the waves close by, giving a sublime feel to your surroundings.

 

5. Wolla Bank Pit Nature Reserve

Wolla Bank Pit on the opposite side of Anderby Road on the north of Skegness is another wonderful place you can use for a stroll. It starts in Willingham Woods car park in Market Rasen, which is around an hour drive from Skegness. It passes through some iconic places and several woodlands and you will have a spectacular view of the Lincolnshire Wolds and can absorb the beauty of huge skies above.
